NHS 70

Celebrating 70 years of our National Health Service

The NHS is turning 70 years old on 5 July 2018. Here at Southwark CCG, we are marking the occasion by celebrating the achievements of the NHS, including advances in science and technology, and not forgetting the amazing contribution of our hard-working and dedicated staff who work tirelessly to provide care and support for everyone.

2018 will be a year of celebrating and we can all get involved with supporting the NHS during its special birthday year. Whether it's raising money for local NHS charities, or sharing your stories about the everyday heroes, we'd like you to get involved.

Here are just some of the ways you can help us celebrate this year:

Sharing your stories

Did you work for the NHS? Did you come overseas to work for the NHS? Or have you been treated by the NHS and want to share your story?

A team of volunteers are working hard to gather and collect stories from patients, workers and the public. If you've got a story you'd like to share, please get in touch with the team via or call 0161 275 0560 to get involved. You can also follow them on Twitter: @NHSat70.

Volunteers from all walks of life have made a huge contribution to the NHS, so why not join them and volunteer for a local NHS service this year?

Volunteering in health and care is a rewarding way to use your spare time.  As well as helping the NHS to enhance the experience patients receive, you can gain new skills, make new friends and improve your own health and wellbeing.
