Quit smoking this Stoptober with the right support for you
Southwark’s 28,000 smokers are being supported to quit for good this Stoptober – with their own Personal Quit Plan.
Stoptober – the 28-day stop smoking challenge – begins on 1 October.
In England, 60% of smokers try to stop smoking with willpower alone, but quitting is easier with the right support, and the most successful quit attempts are made using a combination of methods.
This year, smokers will be able to use a free online Personal Quit Plan
, which helps them find the right support – with options including face-to-face support, nicotine replacement therapies (such as patches, inhalers or lozenges) and e-cigarettes.
Stoptober also offers a range of extra free quitting support including an app, Facebook messenger, daily emails and online communities.
If you are a smoker, quitting is the best thing you can do for your health and those around you. It helps you:
- feel healthier
- save money
- protect your family from second-hand smoke
If you can make it 28 days smoke free, then you’re five times more likely to quit for good.
With quitting success rates at an all-time high, smokers are urged to become part of the movement and join the thousands this Stoptober who are determined to become smoke-free.
