Planning NHS services in Southwark

We are responsible for planning, monitoring and paying for most of the health services you will receive as an NHS patient in Southwark.

We want the best possible health and social care outcomes for Southwark people. Building on the national Five Year Forward View, we have developed a local strategy with Southwark Council to transform local NHS and care services in the borough. Our plan is to move toward planning and funding care very differently from how we do this now so that services are organised around the needs, and health and social outcomes of patients and service users.

You can read about our plans in our summary document and full document on our Publications page.

You can find out more about how we commission health services in Southwark in the About Southwark CCG section.

Improving Southwark health services

There are some services that we think we can improve. We do this by listening to clinicians and talking to local people about their experiences of the care they receive. It is our role to work with the providers of services we identify to have issues with quality of care and patient experience to ensure improvements are made. Find out about the service providers in Southwark on the Who Southwark CCG works with page

At the beginning of the year we decide our priorities for improvement for the year ahead. These are based on an assessment of the health needs of the Southwark population. You can find out our priorities for this year on the left hand side of this page.

Once we decide our priorities we then look at how we can develop services to achieve improvements. The different services we are looking at and our current plans are on the left hand side of the page. You can also read about our past plans in the respective service area sections.

We also have an operating plan which sets out our local response to national priorities and responsibilities and
brings together all our plans for improvement in one place. You can find this on our Publications page.
